... Chic is a segment where we find high fashion inspiration in the news.
The FLDS polygamists are kinda old news but they were all on Oprah yesterday, so I am excited about them again. Plus, Big Love is one of my favourite shows and the season finale was last week.
There are so many things about the style of these ladies that gets me. The pastel colours, the puff sleeves, the ankle length dresses with white socks, but most of all it's the hair.
Unfortunately, I can't embed this clip from Oprah where the ladies talk about their hairstyles. One even gives a demonstration of how she creates it! Please check it out on youtube.
"It takes approximately 45 minutes. I like to comb it nice for when I go out, like to the orthodontist appointment..."
I was really blown away with Josh Goot's prints this season.
His label debuted in Australia in 2005. He had a phase where he showed in New York, but is now settled on London. I think this makes sense for him, as he fits in well with Erdem, Peter Pilotto and that gang of strong printmakers.
More than a few times, I have admired a stuffed animal's fur. The faux fur is so soft, sometimes so sophisticated - they should really be used in womenswear... if not full out, at least as lining.
Below some mood images for the concept:

So excited about this next vintage pick that I am posting it so quickly after the last... Does this Emanuel Ungaro look familiar? The print, the drape, the silhouette... it's totally like those Balenciaga print dresses for Fall 2009.
Printed Silk Crepe de Chine Wrap Dress circa 1980s. Found at enokiworld.
Today's vintage pick find comes courtesy of Decades. Decades is a crazy vintage boutique in Los Angeles that specializes in designer, red-carpet pieces. Their blog is updated regularly with awesome finds.
This dress was picked mainly for the colour - that coral is blowing my mind a little... It's Little Black Dress with a Little Something Special.
Strapless Black Silk Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Dress with Coral Organza (Decades calls it Peach but it's totally Coral, and totally hot) circa early 1980s.
